Abilene is a poetic name analogous to our ambition of creating a home environment for individuals to prosper. It is the name of an ancient valley surrounded by vast deserts. The valley was not only a place of refuge but also a place that sustained a prosperous civilization.

Design is pushing the boundaries while applying proven principles that will lead to a quality product in architecture, construction, art, literature, or any creative endeavor.
Carver Simkins Founder of Abilene Design Build
Carver grew up in a hard-working farming community where he gained an appreciation for an honest days labor. His parents placed a strong emphasis on education inspiring him to prioritize learning over leisure. After graduating as high school valedictorian, he worked in construction while he obtained a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech, an internationally recognized university for it's architecture program.
After obtaining an advanced education, Carver felt he had an in-depth understanding of design, construction, physics and engineering, and aspired to start his own company.
However, he recognized the advantage of experience if he worked with more companies in the industry before starting his own. He spent a year at an architecture firm and another year working with several home remodeling companies and custom home builders; engaging as an architectural designer, project manager and estimator for dozens of projects.
In March of 2025 Carver Started Abilene Design Build.
His vision for what the company will accomplish is complex and would take more than a couple paragraphs to cover, but the starting point is to build quality relationships within the community and provide unparalleled residential design and construction services throughout the greater Louisville Region.
